Freaky Dancin’

This awesome silkscreen print revisits the artwork commissioned by Factory Records for Freaky Dancin’ (Fac 142). This was Happy Mondays’ second single on Factory Records, released in 1986.

In their artwork for the sleeve, Central Station Art were challenging viewers interpretation of colour and shape. These were the primary stages in the evolution of a new visual language created by Central Station and would set the tone for a new design aesthetic at Factory Records.

“A development and expansion of the Delightful artwork (Fac 129) – it was as if you were looking at that cover in the middle of a mad trip. The landscape has warped, the colours intensified and amplified, inhabited by a twisted and tormented creature.” Pat Carroll, Central Station.

The work that Central Station Art produced for the Happy Mondays and Factory Records played an important role in the identity of the label. As Tony Wilson himself said:

“The second half of the factory story is best summed up by the painterly eccentricity of Central Station, Matt, Pat and Karen.”

Each print, on Stonehenge 32gsm 100% cotton acid free archival paper, is signed in pencil as ‘Central Station’ by Matt, Pat or Karen. Supplied on demand by the artists so allow a few extra days for delivery.
