Passion

Passion is one of a collection of limited edition archival inkjet prints published to celebrate a catalogue of truly remarkable and unique sound works by Peter Gabriel.

Peter Gabriel’s Passion cover art was the work of British painter Julian Grater, who had just finished a body of work for his first major solo show that included a series of brutally dark and psychologically rendered drawings. One of these was selected by Peter Gabriel for the album cover of his soundtrack for the Martin Scorsese film The Last Temptation of Christ.

“This was one of the most important records for me – an opportunity as a writer to try to do a different sort of job than I usually do. The brief for The Last Temptation Of Christ was to create something that had references to that time and that part of the world, but that had its own character and was to be timeless in a way.” Peter Gabriel.

Peter felt that Julian Grater’s drawing resonated in a powerful way with the rich, cultural fusion of the music. The print captures beautifully the mark making present in the original multi-media drawing.

Passion comprises two editions: a ‘standard’ size print in an edition of 100 and an XL print in an edition of 25. Every print in this collection has been signed by Peter Gabriel himself.
