Description
Phenomenon
|
Phenomonen is a silkscreen print reworking of the first of several album covers designed for UFO by Hipgnosis. It is a strange image, even by Hipgnosis’ standards. Designed by hand colouring a black and white photograph (a bit of an infatuation at the time, confesses Storm), this Phenomenon cover tells the story of the faking of a UFO picture. The suburban husband throws the proverbial hubcap in the air whilst his suburban wife is taking the picture they will later misrepresent as a UFO sighting. She is annoyed because we’ve caught her in the act, snapped her taking her fake photo of something she will later purport to be real. Editioned as a silkscreen in 24 colours on a weighty Somerset paper, by the renowned Coriander Studios in London. |
