Description

The Later Years – 1987-2019 Vinyl Sleeve

This limited edition archival inkjet print features the artwork from Pink Floyd’s album The Later Years.

It’s a black and white photograph of two men reading a white map. The photograph was shot by Aubrey Powell/Hipgnosis in Iceland in 1981 and was originally presented as an idea for the Pink Floyd Animals cover in 1977.

The negatives lay unused and dormant in the Hipgnosis archive until last year 2019, when it was re-presented to Pink Floyd. They liked the fact that it was originally an idea for the band and had never been used before.

When Roger Waters left the band in 1987 and there were only two members left, David Gilmour and Nick Mason were searching for a way to continue Pink Floyd. The photograph by chance captured the moment of loss and uncertainty as to the creative direction the band would take without Roger Waters.

Printed in beautiful archival inkjet on a Hahnemühle fine art paper.
