Wrote for Luck

This limited edition silkscreen print puts on centre stage the unique typography created by Central Station Art for the Happy Mondays’ album Wrote For Luck; an album cover that became so iconic it is now in use as the band’s logo.

It is impossible to imagine the Mondays without Central Station’s imagery, as the team recall:

“We were always with the band at rehearsals and recording sessions. They had the same approach to the music as we did to our artwork. We always set out to do something new. We didn’t want to look through design books and copy or regurgitate other people’s ideas. We wanted to create artwork that reflected our own lives and experiences. We were bored with the way design was supposed to be done, certain criteria to be fulfilled, and sick of looking through type books. So we decided to create our own, colourful free flowin’ typography, where words and letters just roll on. It just becomes a shape, a block of colour a typographic painting.”

There is nothing else quite like it, and this silkscreen print makes a stunning statement. Signed by Pat, Matt or Karen as ‘Central Station’. Supplied on demand by the artists so allow a few extra days for delivery.
