Happy?

An unusual album cover artwork for Public Image Limited by Richard Evans, drawn and painted in gouache colours that translate beautifully as an archival inkjet print.

“In 1987, when I produced the artwork, John Lydon was into the work of Austrian artist Hundertwasser and asked me to come up with an illustration in the style of Hundertwasser. The apartment blocks spell out PiL. This print is taken directly from the original artwork, and has more detail than eventually appeared on the album cover. The colour strip on the left and the title and Japanese stamp at bottom right were both missing from the album release”. Richard Evans

We are delighted to be able to see the whole picture as it was intended, and to offer a unique little piece of PiL history to our collectors.

Printed on Hahnemühle German Etching paper by the artist.
