Taken by Duffy during the fourth of his Five Sessions with David Bowie in 1979 for the thirteenth studio album and final album of Bowie’s ‘Berlin Trilogy’ comprising of: Low (1977), Heroes (1977) and finally Lodger (1979). The cover art was a collaboration between Duffy and Bowie, with Derek Boshier tying the project together graphically. David’s bandaged hand, the result of a coffee burn before the shoot, perfectly suited the dramatic scene.
Duffy meticulously created the falling man scene, using razor-sharp Kodachrome film to show all the minor details: the objects falling from Bowie’s pockets and water splashing in the sink. However, at the last minute, David decided to use a cropped version of this test Polaroid for the album cover instead. Duffy’s full Kodachrome image is also available as a mounted open edition here.
Each print is embossed with the Duffy Archive stamp and mounted. Printed with Epson K3 Ultrachrome inks.
Handmade in the archive with an embossed Duffy Archive stamp and rear stamped with info sticker. Each print is also rubber stamped on the reverse with a replica of Duffy’s original studio logo and sealed in a clear cellophane wrapper.
Available with a choice of black or white mount, which fits into standard 50 x 50cm frame.
Prints are shipped flat, direct from the Duffy Archive.
