This limited edition archival digital print features artwork designed by Storm Thorgerson and his team for Disco Biscuits, and their 2010 album, Planet Anthem. Disco Biscuits describe their music as having a new quality to it, something unexpected. With these words in his mind, Storm came up with this idea, beginning with an wrapped bicycle at Christmas and ending with this image of four wrapped females on a beach:
Storm poses. Well, he answered himself that the idea of the sheet came from medieval European practices for publicly displaying the validity of a marriage contract. If the sheet was not white when displayed the next morning the marriage contract might be in jeopardy. It is a difficult image, challenging and hard to place. Storm upheld it was intended as peculiar and not oppressive, but a tension is certainly present. The weather on the day of the shoot contributed to the metaphor – a purity of light that comes through beautifully in the print. |
